We go through this life alternately sitting at the feet of giants and standing on their shoulders. I'm wondering when I'm going to stand up and do the shoulder standing part. There were brilliant people with thoughts to share at Stanford this weekend. Doug Engelbart, Will Wright, Larry Lessig, Jay Rosen, Doc Searls, Dewayne Hendricks, Mary Hodder, Dan Gillmor, Peter Kaminski, Paul Boutin, Stowe Boyd, Jaron Lanier.
There's a long way to go to get the percentages near 50/50 but there is a trend toward gender balance for those who care to see it. I pulled the above list out of my memory of some high points. There were plenty of other connections, new acquaintances made and old ones renewed. I always like to see Lisa Williams. And Julie Leung. And Roland Tanglao. And it was nice seeing Enoch Choi. And seeing Phil Wolff again.
And Dave Winer. A handshake and a smile. Thanks to Dave for keeping the bloggercon bus on the road.
Sorry to everyone I didn't mention and everyone I didn't link...it's bedtime now... this was a great weekend and it will be feeding and informing my writing for a long time.
